Located in Umbria, the Lamborghini winery extends between the southern slope of Lake Trasimeno and the magnificent medieval village of Panicale, on the border of Umbria and Tuscany. Cortona and Val di Chiana are only a few tens of kilometers apart.
Ferruccio Lamborghini acquired this estate at the end of the 60s, falling in love with these landscapes, both arid and very pleasant, during his travels. Leaving behind his famous automotive activities, he then chose to reconnect with his origins: agriculture.
The property covers 100 hectares, divided between a 9-hole golf course, a farm tourism operation and the 32-hectare vineyard.
The first grape varieties were composed of different varieties of black or white grapes: the classic Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo rubbed shoulders with more unusual varieties at that time such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
In the mid-90s, Patrizia Lamborghini took over the management of the estate, perpetuating and even consolidating his father's ambition to produce very high quality wines.
From then on, a large part of the grape varieties was relocated in favor of grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Merlot and Grechetto. Today, the new varietals of selected clones occupy more than 25 hectares, but the operating program of the current owner of the estate provides for the renovation of the entire vineyard. The quest for extreme quality, the desire to highlight the specificities of the territory and the precious oenological practices of Riccardo Cotarella have produced a radical change entirely oriented towards the production of wines of a very high quality level.
